Fridays kick ass!

It is 7:30 on a Friday night, and heck yes! It does feel great to be at home, freed from the weekly routine. I know I enjoy going to work every weekday: students are awesome and I learn a lot of new things from teaching them everyday.

However, there is always a mental tension I cannot get rid of when weeknights approach and I have to get ready for the next day of work. I go to bed thinking I have to wake up early, drive to school and think about how I will make those kids learn!

Also, the mere thought of having to follow a schedule awakens my mind. And that, sometimes, prevents me from letting it loose. In fact, when I am playing the guitar, watching T.V. or playing PS3 on a weekday chances are I might think to myself, "Go to bed now, sleep your eight hours or you'll wake up feeling like s**t tomorrow."

But in the long run, too much free time makes me miss my job. I need to continue exploring language and math to get to know the kids of this world and to be part of their lives. At the end of the day, I become a kid myself when I am teaching: see them learn concepts by exploring tales, multiplying numbers or answering questions, transport me back to 1992, when I was in elementary school and I started loving numbers and reading because they helped me make sense of the world around me.

So I thank God for the weekdays and the weekends!
